Celebration of light — fireworks festival in Vancouver
July 25, 2015 @ 22:00 - August 1, 2015 @ 22:25
If you missed fireworks on the 4th of July, you may travel to Vancouver, Canada for an exciting display that will blow your socks off. Soon Vancouver will host the 25th anniversary of the Celebration of Light, which is a prestigious competition among pyrotechnic companies that showcases new advancements in firework technology. Operated by the not-for-profit Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society, the festival attracts up to 400,000 spectators along English Bay each evening.
This year teams from four countries show their skill:
July 25th 2015 — Team China;
July 29th 2015 — Team Brazil;
August 1st — Team Canada.
Every day fireworks are scheduled at 10pm rain or shine. The teams arrange 20- to 25-minute long shows that are choreographed to music. According to the Celebration of Light event website, each show takes a crew of 16 people up to three days to ready the equipment exactly as they have drawn it up.
There are plenty of options for viewing the display from differing vantage points in Vancouver because the fireworks are launched from an offshore barge. You may see the show from the English Bay, Jericho Beach, Kitsilano, Vanier Park and roofs.
And Celebration of light is not only fireworks…
